Too much fade from Kirwan as Grant claims his maiden professional title
The Kenilworth Golf Club member shot a first-round 73 to lie five shots off leader Toby Hunt (St Mellons GC) at the close of day one on Monday.
However, eight bogeys and a double bogey saw him shoot an eight-over-par 80 the following day to close the tournament on nine over, 16 shots off Hunt’s winning score.

Hide AdThe Warwickshire’s Richard Glenn was a shot further back, after following his opening-round 74 with a bogey-strewn 80 to finish tied for 62nd.
Hunt followed up his opening-round 68 with an equally consistent 69 to claim his first-ever professional win and prize money of £3,200.
Longstanding Warwick Golf Club member Roy Woolston paired up with Scott Delenty to win the club’s annual AJ Coller Pairs Texas Scramble.
The random pairs event sees teams given one-third combined handicaps, with Woolston and Delenty carding a nett 57.7.

Hide AdClub champion Rob Buckingham paired up with Rob Mason to come in a close second on net 58.3.
After a sterling performance for their B team at Stratford GC, where he shot an 88 (five shots below his age), Coventry Golf Club honorary playing member Peter Sprawson followed up with a hole in one at his home club’s 166-yard fifth.
It was the fourth hole in one of his golfing career, the first of which came in 1931 at the tender age of 11.
