The nonagenarian from Leamington scored an impressive 41 points to fare slightly better than Lucy Li who missed the cut on her debut at Pinehurst No.2.
Sprawson’s impressive feat came 18 months after scoring a hole-in-one on the Midland club’s fifth hole and newly appointed head PGA professional Martin Sutliff was delighted for the former soldier.

Hide Ad“It was my first professional’s day event, attracting 175 golfers and ended up being won by our oldest member which capped a great day,” said Sutliff who succeeded Dr Phil Weaver following his recent retirement after 35 years at the club.
“Peter is a super guy and still plays three times a week so it just shows that age really is no barrier when it comes to golf.
“There are very few golfers in the world who can shoot a score less than their age - especially in their nineties.”
Sprawson, who joined the club in 1969, won an electric trolley for his efforts and has also seen his handicap come down from 24 to 22.

Hide AdHe was given a standing ovation at the presentation and admitted “he wondered if he had a round like that left in him”.
Sprawson hit the headlines last year after recording his fourth hole in one, with the ace coming 82 years after he had sunk his first.
